Just wanted to put up some photos of the garden over the past couple of weeks. It's finally coming around!!! We have our first few zucchini's and are anxiously awaiting other tasty treats in the very near future. Here are some photos showing the progression...

Incase you are wondering why we were measuring the zucchini, they are supposed to be harvested when they are 6-8". We measured the first one on 7/23, then measured it again the next day and it had grown 2" overnight!

Gunni/CB Trip

Today we drove to Gunnison for our friends' daughters' first birthday party, which was at the rec center pool. We had such a blast swimming with the kids and Matt got to take a ride down the awesome water slide that they have there. After swimming, the party moved to the birthday girls' aunt's house, but we weren't able to stay too long. We left the party and drove up to Crested Butte to see my nephew, Josiah and his family there. Josiah turns 9 on July 29th, so we brought him and his little sister their birthday presents. We were able to hang out with them for a couple of hours, then we grabbed some burritos from Teocalli Tamale and had our dinner at the Totem Pole Park alongside the creek. After dinner, we started the trek home over Cottonwood Pass. We stopped at the summit for diaper changes and took some photos with the boys. That is the highest altitude Gavin has ever been at (12,126 feet above sea level), so we had to document it for him!

In the midst of summer

Yikes! It's been two weeks since my last post, and I haven't been taking a lot of photos lately. I will put up some of them that I have actually had my camera around for...
Over the past couple of weeks, we have gone on some great hikes, have NOT spent one day at the zoo (boo hoo!), celebrated Lochlan's first birthday (see other post), played outside A LOT, had fun Burley (bike trailer) rides, a picnic with our friends at the local park that we ride the kids in the Burley to, gone to our neighbors hilarious Tour-de-France costume party (we rode the kids down there in the Burley in the jammies) and worked on the yard and in the garden (actually I can't take credit for the garden, as that whole project is Matt's baby). Matt has been teaching Gavin how to water the garden and showing him different things about the garden and where our food comes from. I've been showing him what we can put in our compost and he loves throwing things in there. I usually try and do it as quickly as possible, though, because it reeks! :)
It has been a great past couple of weeks and we're looking forward to lots more fun the rest of the summer!
