XC Skiing

We've been trading kiddo-sitting with our sweet friend Mary a bunch this winter. Her son Levi has quickly turned in to Lochlan's best friend, as they've been spending a lot of quality time together. Today while Lochlan was at Levi's house, Matt & I decided to go cross-country skiing together. I haven't been in well over 12 years and Matt has never been, so it was quite the experience. We had a really good time though and skied about 5k on the super awesome Nordic trails here in Crested Butte. They are groomed so nicely and the tracks were perfect for our skis. I have a punch card for the trails and will hopefully start going once a week on my lunch breaks.

New Years Eve

Was nice & mellow again this year. My work put on another children's performance called "Kid's Rock!" a Noon Years' Eve performance for children with an awesome kid's musician named Steve Weeks. We spent the evening watching the torchlight parade (a parade with torchlights put on by the ski & snowboard school instructors from the top to the bottom of the mountain), then the fireworks display on the mountain. Did I mention that we watched the parade and fireworks from our cozy bedroom window? Oh yes. We sure do live in a great spot!

December

Here are some fun photos from December!

Strider Cup

Loch did his first Strider Cup race this summer, right before the start of the Crested Butte leg of the USA Pro Cycle Challenge. His age group is a little too young to be competitive, so it was a "cooperative winning" race. He still has his medal strapped around the handle bars of his bike. HA!

Jammie Time!

There were a couple of days this past fall where Lochlan just didn't want to get dressed for school, and demanded to stay in his jammies all day. I took this photo of him one of those days, right before we left for school. Obviously it was just easier for Mama to let him go to school like this, instead of the battle that could have happened to get him to change. Looking back at it now, it's pretty darn cute.
